Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
DBT manages
Big Emotions
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) has been blowing up in modern psychology due to its effectiveness in helping individuals manage big emotions. Dialectic is just a fancy way of saying that two opposing ideas can exist at the same time. For example, the world can both be a beautiful place but at the same time can sometimes be scary. I can both feel happy about the next chapter of my life but also sad that I will have to move on.

Mind
We’ve all been there. Sometimes we’re thinking more logically about a situation and don’t take into account how our emotions play into it. Additionally, sometimes we’re feeling so emotional, we forget to see the more rational and logical point of view. Individuals can also just be more logical or more emotional. DBT teaches us that there often exists a middle path called the Wise Mind where you train yourself to think both logically and emotionally. Using the four modules of DBT, Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness, join us in learning how to manage your big emotions when difficult situations arise. What is your Wise Mind telling you?
